Our global partnerships are a key element to us delivering our mission to enable better, smarter, safer healthcare to improve lives. We have committed to the following science-based targets covering reductions in scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across near-term and long-term time horizons. These new goals complement the company’s existing commitment to use 100% renewable electricity within its operations by 2030.

  • By 2030, Solventum will reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by 46% from a 2021 baseline

  • By 2030, Solventum will reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 50% from a 2021 baseline1 and enable suppliers covering 50% of emissions from Purchased Goods and Services (category 1) to set science-based targets

  • Solventum commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050. We commit to reducing absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions 90% by 2050 from a 2021 baseline

Solventum will submit its GHG emission reduction targets to the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to be validated against the SBTi criteria. The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption and independently assesses and approves companies' targets.

Scope 3 near-term absolute reduction goal includes: category 3: fuel and energy related activities; category 4: upstream transportation, category 7: employee    commuting; category 9: downstream transportation; and category 12: end of life treatment of sold products.
