Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
The European Union developed legislation in 2003, to ensure that systems for collection, treatment and recycling of electronic waste would be in place throughout the European Union. Due to the increasing quantity of electronic waste, this legislation has since been recast. The WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU became effective on 14 February 2014.
This directive has been translated into UK legislation, whilst Irish legislation had been in place since July 5, 2005.

WEEE from household situations
This symbol on a product or on its packaging indicates that the product must not be disposed of with other household waste. Instead, it is your responsibility to ensure disposal of waste equipment by handing it over to a designated collection point for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment usually at a Local Amenity Site. The proper recycling of your waste equipment at the time of disposal will help to conserve natural resources and ensure that it is recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. As a producer of electronic devices, Solventum will provide for the financing of the treatment and recycling of waste returned using this system.
If the products are purchased from a distributor, you have the right to hand over your waste electrical or electronic equipment to the distributor if the product is replaced by a new product with a similar function. The distributor will then make sure that the waste is treated and recycled in the appropriate way.
WEEE from Business situations (non household)
For users of Solventum equipment, other than private households, Solventum will provide free recycling of all electronic equipment once requested to Solventum.
For all products purchased after 13 August 2005 the regulations say that producer is responsible. So in this case, Solventum will take full responsibility to treat and recycle the products.
