The ISO 11138-1:2017 and ISO 11138-3:2017 compliant Attest rapid steam biological indicator, 1292-S, is easy to use, activate and interpret. It’s a reliable monitoring device for 250°F/121°C gravity displacement and 270°F/132°C vacuum-assisted steam sterilization cycles that can be used for industrial (Life Science) sterilization applications when verified by the end user.
The self-contained biological indicator (BI) consists of a Geobacillus stearothermophilus spore strip and sealed glass ampoule with growth media and dual indicator system. The spore strip and media ampoule are contained in a plastic vial topped with a brown color-coded cap. The label includes a chemical process indicator. The BI is packaged in a foil pouch designed to protect the product from humidity excursions.
After the steam sterilization process, the BI is activated to join the growth media with the processed spore strip. The BI is incubated in the Attest Auto-reader 390 for a final fluorescent result at 3 hours. When processed, the chemical process indicator turns from rose/pink to brown/black.
