3M™ Encapsulated System Holder is pivoted to the horizontal position for ergonomic loading and unloading at waist height and to the vertical position for filtration. This means operators do not have to lift capsules above their head and reduces the risk of exposure to fluid when handling used capsules. It also drastically reduces the time it takes to change out filter cartridges.

The 3M™ Encapsulated System Holder preserves the vertical flow path design that has proven effective for depth filtration with 3M™ Zeta Plus™ depth filters, polishing with 3M™ Polisher ST and chromatographic clarification with 3M™ Emphaze™ AEX Hybrid Purifier and 3M™ Harvest RC Chromatographic Clarifier.
When faced with the challenges of filtration and purification for the bioprocessing industry, whether for upstream cell culture clarification or downstream impurity removal, the 3M™ Encapsulated System Holder meets these challenges with an ergonomic, compact assembly. The 3M™ Encapsulated System Holder consists of two configurations; a pilot system that is ideal for scale‐up studies and small scale operation, and a production system that is designed for large production scale biomanufacturing.
The 3M™ Encapsulated System Holder has a built‐in torque limiter that will signal that the assembly is properly sealed. The 3M™ Encapsulated System Holder's ergonomically designed hardware pivots between horizontal and vertical positions allowing for fast and convenient loading and unloading at waist height, effective utilization of the filter media, minimal fluid spills during unloading, and a smaller footprint during filtration and storage.

The 3M™ Encapsulated System Holders accommodate translucent polycarbonate plastic shells allowing detection of the liquid level for real time monitoring of the filtration process and Polyphenylene Oxide shells allowing sterilization and sanitization. We offer our customers multiple configurations of the 3M™ Encapsulated System Holder that can be used with a variety of different capsules for upstream and downstream processing. These filter media including upstream technologies such as the 3M™ Zeta Plus™ depth filter, 3M™ Emphaze™ AEX Hybrid Purifier, and 3M™ Harvest RC Chromatographic Clarifier in addition to downstream processing technologies such as the 3M™ Polisher ST.

Scalability
To provide consistent performance from bench scale to production scale, single-use scale-up capsules are available for different media grade selection and filter sizing. Combined with small scale capsules, the 3M™ Encapsulated Production System offers a complete single‐use solution to process from 0.5 L to 2500+ L of liquid.
